Home Page

Welcome to the new Brentwood Bike Co. Web site, we are here to assist you in all your cycling needs.

Well, here it is 2012! Since opening the shop in April of 2008 ,we have had a ton of fun, are still loving what we do and look forward to many more great experiences! It has been a blast to watch all the smiling faces roll out of the shop on their bikes. It is great to hear the success stories from weight loss to race results! We are enjoying the development of our BMX team, and are proud of our accomplishment of getting the local skate park opened up for BMX usage. We appreciate all the continued support we have received from the community and the great relationships we have developed.

We hope you find our site informative and fun.  We will be updating our new website with more content and information soon. Check back often and follow it up with a visit to the shop and say "hi".

Bikes

Road

Road Bikes are designed for riding on paved streets and going fast. Featuring skinny tires, a lightweight frame and a riding position that puts you bent over the handlebars, you might choose this type of bike if traveling longer distances at higher speeds is important to you. The frames of most road bikes are not particularly beefy in construction and generally won’t stand up well for extended periods under heavy loads or on really rough surfaces. They are about as well-suited for a path in the woods as you would be when wearing high heels.

Mountain

Mountain bikes do not go as fast as road bikes, which is a trade-off for their durability along with a more comfortable riding position. You sit higher on these bikes, more upright with the straight handlebars, which is often a happier choice for people with back problems than being hunched over as you are on a road bike.

Comfort

A comfort bike is a type of bicycle that is used for general biking activities. This bike can be used on paved roads, unpaved roads, trails and paths. Comfort bikes were designed with features of both a mountain bike and a road bike. These features offer you the ability to handle the rough terrain with the ease of peddling on a smooth street. Comfort bikes are a great way to have fun, exercise and get to wherever you need to go.

Hybrid

Hybrids are compromise between road and mountain bikes and offer the best features of both if most of your riding will be shorter trips on pavement. With skinnier, smooth tires, they typically can go faster than mountain bikes, yet feature the upright seat and handlebar position that many people favor. Hybrids are a good choice for most city riding, and offer speed, durability and comfort.

Cruiser

Cruisers are bikes that have wide tires, wide seats, upright handlebars and sometimes even just a single gear. These are the bikes that you’ll often see at the beach or around town. More simple mechanically, they are easy to maintain but work best with flat terrain and a rider whose main interest is more about being comfortable than with going fast.

Fixie

Also known as a fixed gear, a fixie bike is a bicycle with a specific back wheel that doesn't allow it to spin without moving the cranks. Since the Bike can not coast, the rider must work harder to pedal. This is ideal for those interested in strength building and conditioning. Other advantages include the fixed-gear bike's light weight and simplicity. In addition to to these advantages, fixie bikes often don't have a lot of components, which gives them clean lines, and are usually customized colorfully, which gives them a stylish and trendy appeal.

BMX

Originally a bicycle intended for BMX Racing, the term "BMX bike" is now used for racing, as well as bikes used for dirt, vert, park, street, flatland and BMX freestyle disciplines.  BMX frames are made of various types of steel, Cromoly or aluminum for racing category.  Cheaper, low end bikes are usually made of steel. Mid range bikes are mostly chromoly or high tensile steel. High-performance freestyle BMX bikes use lightweight 4130 chromoly.  BMX Freestyle is now one of the main events at  Extreme Sports competitions and has grown in popularity due to its individual styling and availability of riding locations.
